internship diary

i came in late :(

I've never had this group before i feel its kind of awkward sitting here when I haven't introduced myself, this chair is also incredibly uncomfortable.

The teacher is introducing the topic of the class (observing) by showing illusions to her students. I honestly think this was a really smart way to get her students focused on her. This class seems really nice so far like sometimes they're a bit distracted by their phone but it looks like they're actually interested and somewhat motivated. I never noticed but my internship mentor has like a really good voice like she speaks loudly when needed, it just gets a bit hectic when the whole class is sort of doing their thing and being loud themselves it seems hard for her to rise above it and calm them down a bit. With a few people entering the class late I feel sometimes it's a bit difficult for her to regain the attention of her students when they're greeting their friends who just came in. I think at times the students are a bit confused as to why they're doing certain things, this could honestly be fixed by mentioning the learning goals at the start of a class.

This is a new class for both me and my internship mentor which is kind of scary because it could mean that they're harder to manage since they're still limit testing. One of the students asked me if i was a new student when he saw me standing outside the classroom T-T. These kids are like disrespectful like damn shut up for a second please T-T. I'm being so serious a lot of these boys were raised terribly like they are very annoying and disrespectful. This class became way more relaxed when the boys were removed.

This classroom is like really small I feel the class barely fits inside. This should honestly be pretty fun because I already know a few of these students since I've seen them during speaking exams. The way this teacher interacts with her students is very chill like I think they can somewhat relate to her. This class was quite uneventful because the students were fine and the teacher was mostly just explaining their exams

After the fourth class I went home. Honestly the day was really nice overall, although I felt the observing classes were a little draining.
